I used to do tie dye many moons ago. After opening The Tobacco Shop in 1990, I didn't have the time to deal with it anymore. Recently, I have been working on a website for my wife who does tie dye professionally and became curios about some of the work we ran across while looking up information on the internet. I purchased the 2 DVD set "Advanced Tie Dye Techniques" from TrueTieDye.com to give to my friend in hopes of inspiring her. After watching it myself a couple of times, I ended up getting interested in tie dying again (thanks Martine & Tom, good job!). I have been mesmerized by the work of several artist featured on the Dharma Trading Company website, especially Christine Garrigan (excellent work). In addition, there are a few artists elsewhere on the internet that I found quite interesting and totally different from your typical tie dye. My attempt to copy or do variations of other artists work have failed, but some of the failures have turned out pretty neat (see the pictures below). I'm sure I'll be dabbling in tie dyes off and on so I'll post a new picture of the latest experiment from time to time.
